5 Healthy Halloween Treats

First the Facts

  • Most candies and treats found on the shelf are packed with ingredients that will destabilize your hormones, irritate your gut and generally make you feel bad
  • You can make your own treats using wholesome and seasonal ingredients like:
    • Maple syrup
    • Cinnamon
    • Vanilla
    • Chocolate chips

What’s that spooky sound? Is it wicked witches, racketing goblins, or restless ghouls? No, it’s the sound of children across the US, hyped up on a seemingly endless supply of processed sugary treats for the month of October.

😱😱😱

Halloween is coming, and it kicks off an entire season of indulgent snacking and treats. It starts with pumpkin spiced everything, we arrive at every party with cookies in hand, and it reaches a fever pitch on halloween night when kids come home with pillowcases stuffed with junky candy.

Candy Ingredients to Avoid

When we indulge in store-bought candy and overly processed treats, we’re filling ourselves with additives such as:

  • High fructose corn syrup
  • Unrefined sugars
  • Dyes
  • Artificial flavors and sweeteners
  • Preservatives

And that’s just a of the few toxic and inflammatory ingredients found in many sweets making the rounds this time of year.

Titanium dioxide, for example, is an additive used to give candies their smooth appearance and texture (think Skittles, Starburst, etc.). Scientists have found that titanium dioxide accumulates in the body, disrupting hormones and damaging DNA.

So, who ya gonna call?! We got your back with several sweet treats that won’t derail your health!
